School Support & Advocacy Services
How I Can Support You
Whether you are facing a difficult school meeting, SEND concerns, bullying, behavioural challenges, or simply do not know what to do next, I help you understand your options and move forward with confidence.
Not sure where to start? Most families begin with an Initial Consultation.
01. Initial Consultation
-
For parents who feel unsure, overwhelmed, or unclear about what to do next.
This is a 50-minute consultation, available by video, phone, or in person, where we discuss your concerns and what is currently happening with your child and their school.
Together, we may explore your child’s school history, the main concern, whether the school has already been approached, the school’s response, any existing support plans, what you would like to happen, and what you can realistically expect from the school.
After the consultation, you will receive a written summary within 24 hours, including practical advice, immediate next steps, and a clear plan for moving forward.
-
€100.00
If you decide to go with one of my other services after this initial consultation then the price will be €85.00
02. School Meetings & Advocacy Support — Buddy & Advocate

03. Diagnosis Support
-
Whether you are in a disagreement with your child’s school or are unsure of whether your child meets the criteria for a formal diagnosis, I am here to help. Although I do not formally diagnose childhood disorders, as a Social Worker, I provide an informal assessment and make a professional recommendation. This will likely answer any questions you may have and guide your decision as to whether to seek a formal diagnosis or not.
The assessment will involve:
Two direct observations of your child (preferably in different settings such as home, school, extra-curricular activity, etc)
Review of any relevant information such as school reports, teacher notes, behaviour charts outlining specifics of behaviour issues, medical records, and past psychological or medical treatments
In the case that you decide to have your child formally assessed, I will recommend appropriate healthcare professionals who speak English. I will also support you throughout the process of having a diagnosis through the public services and applying for all the statutory provisions.
Where it is found that your child does have special educational needs, I can also support with
Developing a support plan for your child (together with the school)
Coordinating support and liaising with other professionals
navigating the system to find the best schools for your child’s needs, if necessary

From €650
04. Special Needs School Placement
-
For families moving to Madrid or navigating the Spanish school system and looking for the right educational environment for their child.
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family can make. It should not be based on websites, marketing brochures, reputation, or location alone.
This service provides independent, professional guidance to help international and local families understand the school landscape and choose an environment where their child can truly thrive.
This may include:
educational and emotional profiling of your child
review of your child’s academic history, personality, and emotional needs
clear explanation of school options in Spain, including international, concertado, and public schools
curated school recommendations based on your child and family profile
school visit support for up to two schools
admissions guidance and interview preparation
a settling-in strategy to support your child’s transition
All recommendations are based on professional judgement, knowledge of the school environment, and the needs of your child and family — not simply online research.
Deliverable:
A clear, professional roadmap to help you make an informed school choice and support your child’s transition with confidence. -
€2.000
05. Behavioural Challenges
-
For parents concerned about their child’s behaviour at school, or the impact of another child’s behaviour on their child.
Behavioural concerns can quickly affect a child’s confidence, relationships, learning, and communication with the school. This service helps families and schools understand what may be happening beneath the behaviour and agree on practical, consistent support.
This may include:
attending school meetings with you
liaising with the school to understand the concerns clearly
supporting the development of a practical support plan
reviewing whether the plan is being implemented effectively
revising the plan if further support is needed
recommending or referring to other trusted professionals where appropriate
The aim is to move from blame or confusion towards a clear, child-centred plan that supports your child and the wider school environment.

06. Bullying and Discrimination
-
For families dealing with bullying, exclusion, discrimination, or serious concerns about how their child is being treated at school.
Every child has the right to feel safe, included, and respected at school. If your child is being bullied, excluded, or discriminated against, I can help you approach the situation calmly, clearly, and strategically.
This may include:
helping you communicate clearly with the school
reviewing what has already happened and identifying the next steps
preparing written communication to the school
attending a meeting with you to discuss a support or safeguarding plan
helping you request appropriate school action and follow-up
reviewing the school’s response and supporting next steps
The aim is to ensure that your child’s experience is taken seriously and that the school responds with appropriate care, responsibility, and action.

07. School Placement & Relocation Strategy
-
Relocating to a new city like Madrid or navigating the local school system can be a daunting experience for any family. Choosing the right school is one of the most significant decisions you will make, and it shouldn't be based on online browsing and marketing brochures alone. I provide expert, independent guidance to help international and local parents find an educational environment where their child will truly thrive.
This service is designed to take the guesswork out of the Spanish educational landscape, ensuring your choice is informed by your child’s, and family's, unique needs rather than just proximity or prestige.
How we find the perfect fit:
Educational & Emotional Profiling: A deep-dive analysis of your child’s academic history, personality, and emotional requirements.
System Orientation: A clear breakdown of the different types of schools in Spain (International, Concertado, and Public) to find the right match for your family’s values.
Curated Recommendations: A shortlist of educational centres that align with your child’s, and family's, specific profile. I will personally visit up to two schools with you. All my recommendations are schools that I have visited in person and know their true values and provisions, not just a place out of the web.
Admission Coaching: Practical preparation for school interviews and guidance through the complex enrolment processes.
Settling-In Strategy: A tailored plan to facilitate your child’s transition and ensure a smooth adaptation to their new school environment.
The Deliverable:
The confidence that you are making the best possible investment in your child’s future, backed by a professional roadmap for their first day and beyond.

Testimonials
“Thank you, Vânia! You’ve been amazing. You’re like an Angel. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without you. If it weren’t for you we would probably still be fluffing around with all those services we were paying and not really getting anywhere. We are hugely grateful. ”
— Charlotte“The school is finally listening to us and has offered a lot of support already. We had a meeting with the Psychologist, the pastoral team, and the Principal. All in response of you reaching out to them. I really don’t think we could have mobilised all this support in such a short time without you. ”
— NB“Thank you so much Vânia. Even just talking to you on the phone has made me understand so much. I do want you to see E for an assessment. ”
