Every consultation is unique and personal, and every child is valued. I offer a personalised and tailored service, and I make sure that you receive the help and support you need to meet the specific needs of your child.
Consultations can also be held in Portuguese and Spanish.

To support parents going through the process of special care needs diagnosis. Offering a professional assessment, providing guidance and recommendations, and liaising with the school and other professionals involved in the care of your child
Where parents have conflicting views and are unsure about a decision, I offer an independent, professional, and objective view, so that they can be confident in the decisions they make

About Vânia Mendes

I am a British, registered mental health Social Worker with a Psychology background. Back in London, I worked within the mental health field and children’s services for over 18 years before moving to Madrid with my family in 2022. I am also a mother of two small angels who attend a British school in Madrid. So, I empathise a lot with international mothers and parents with school age children in Spain. I know what it’s like. I know the joys, I face the same challenges of school life, I understand the pressure, the limitations of being in a foreign country, and the needs.
I am here to support you, a parent like me, navigating the journey of your children’s school life. I work with parents whose children attend any British or English-speaking school in Spain. I help to facilitate a smooth and effective communication between parents and their children’s schools so that they can all better support the children.
I have been part of very serious, important, and challenging meetings with various schools as a professional but also as a parent. I quickly realised where I felt confident and assertive as the professional in the room, I struggled as a parent in a room full of professionals discussing my child, and I felt overwhelmed and overpowered. That’s why I decided to create a service that supports parents with children in British and English-speaking schools in Spain. A service that will stand with parents no matter what situation they are facing with their child at school. And a service that will empower parents to support their children and be their best advocate throughout their school life.
Although English is my main language, I also speak Portuguese (native level) and Spanish so please do not shy away if English is not your first language or you are not a confident speaker.
